Living in London is difficult. Two sides to a coin. It can be life-affirming and it can sap your energy. You have to plan in advance. You have different groups of friends. They can cohere, but often they don't. So you traverse across town by bus, taxi and Tube - from Battersea to Dollis Hill, from Fulham to Bow - knitting patterns in the fabric of the city. You want to see your friends, you have to work, and you'd also like time for yourself - so it's difficult. You have to make time. Time is precious. It's precious wherever you are. In London it's especially precious because so much of it runs through your fingers and seeps through your pores as you stand shoulder to shoulder, breath to breath with a thousand strangers.
