STRUMFELS

I'm a person with a great deal of curiosity and enjoys all subjects that satisfy it. I'm also creative, being a published writer. I am something of a loner, dislike crowds and big social scenes, though I do very much enjoy one-on-one relationships, and at a personal level I think I'm quite uninhibited and open to any experiences. Giving pleasure in a relationship is, if anything, even more important that receiving it. I read a great deal. Not much of a movie goer, or interested in passive entertainment. In fact, I can be very comfortable by myself, or with someone else even if little is happening. I'm very much interesting in someone who can intelligently discuss on matters of philosophy, science, art, or anything intellectually interesting. Off-beat minds are definitely interesting; I want to hear from people with interesting and/or unusual ideas and aren't afraid to share them. In terms of looks, I probably do pretty well for a middle-aged man (more the distinguished gray than the balding virile type, to paraphrase a line from Woody Allen's "Annie Hall". Looks don't mean a great deal to me (well, it is pleasant to look at someone attractive, but that's not basis for a relationship). Friendship and good companionship mean more to me at this point in my life than torrid romance, but I have no problems getting physical if things go in that direction. Most people I think would describe as gentle, even "sweet" (though I think that goes to far).

Intelligent, warm-hearted, passionate (in all ways), down-to-earth, good sense of humor, finds the big things in life important and doesn't sweat the small things much, isn't religious in a dogmatic way (but not necessarily an athiest), in fact isn't dogmatic at all. Willing to argue and stand up for herself and what she believes, but does so rationally and with respect. Open and honest, and appreciates same in others. Enjoys one-on-one companionship, but not much into parties or big social scenes. Likes a variety of music, and reading, and art. An excellent communicator who gets to the point (I happen to need this). Sensitive and appreciates same in others. Trusting and willing to give the benefit of the doubt, and not judgmental (even if opinionated). Doesn't have to be a saint and doesn't need to pretend to be one -- and appreciates the same. A good friend, whatever else she is. Enjoys nature and appreciates science even if she is not a scientist herself. Willing both to learn and teach. Doesn't fuss over others, but is always willing to be there for you -- and again, appreciates the same in others. Understands that in each life some rain must fall, that all people have weaknesses as well as strengths, and possesses a sense of wonder and compassion.
